Signal Mountain Real Estate

Scenic Mountain Views & Community at its Best!
Stretching three counties (Hamilton, Sequatie, and Marion) and two time zones, and as one of the three mountains overlooking the Greater Chattanooga area, Signal Mountain heralds some of the best views of the city from high atop it’s perch of over 1,700 feet above sea level.
This tight-knit community features natural beauty around every corner, prestigious living, Top-Rated public schools, and Tennessee’s 2nd lowest crime rate (1). With all the qualities that Signal Mountain has to offer, it’s no wonder why it has become a premier destination for Chattanoogans, Tennesseeans, and Relocators alike.
Added benefits to living on the mountain include a 7-degree cooler climate (and less humidity), limited sprawl, and plenty of preserved scenic beauty. The town itself abuts Prentice Cooper State Forest, a popular destination for hikers (35 miles of trail), camping, hunting, OHV riding, rock climbing, mountain biking, bird-watching, and horseback riding. An outdoor enthusiast’s dream!
Real Estate
With all the desirable amenities that Signal Mountain has to offer, real estate prices can be somewhat inflated compared to other areas around the city (along with taxes). That’s not to say that affordable housing can’t be found; however, you just need to find them – and that’s where Cassie & Patrick excel (having lived on the mountain for 20+ years). Whether it’s affordable housing you’re looking for, or luxury living at it’s best, The Hollis Group has you covered! Buying, Selling, Investing, or Renting… call us today!

Transportation
There are only three roads on and off the mountain: Tafy Highway (127), the W Road (aptly named for its switchbacks), and Roberts Mill Road. Taft Highway is the main thoroughfare that runs up the mountain (the front), through town, into Sequatchie County, and then back down the mountain (the back) into Dunlap. Taft highway is THE ONLY road that can accommodate 16 wheeler trucks and trucks hauling trailers; both the W Road and Roberts Mill Road are very steep and have many narrow switchbacks that are guaranteed to get trucks and trailers stuck (which occurs frequently). Stuck vehicles end up closing these roads as emergency responders are required to back these vehicles back down the mountain.

Arts
- The Mountain Arts Community Center (MACC) is an all-inclusive space for Signal Mountain and the Chattanooga area to come together for the pursuit of arts and enrichment. Located in the town’s oldest public building, the MACC seeks to be a premier destination for live music and theater, fine arts lessons, and community gatherings.
- The Mountain Opry, a Friday night gig for countless bluegrass and old-time country musicians over the last three decades. The Mountain Opry takes place in the Walden’s Ridge Civic Center, 2501 Fairmount Pike on Signal Mountain on Friday nights. Admission is free.
- The Bachman Community Center; located in the historic Nathan L. Bachman Elementary building, the Bachman Community Center’s mission is to foster a sense of community by supporting programs and events that reflect the needs of all residents of Walden’s Ridge, while continuing to preserve the historic building as a community resource.
- Signal Mountain Playhouse: Signal Mountain Playhouse was established in 1972 to provide activity for the community youth in the summer, and now has children of all ages participating in bringing quality family entertainment to our community. The Signal Mountain Playhouse is a not-for-profit volunteer organization. The first few years, only one outdoor production in the summer was presented. After a while, some adults wanted a chance to present plays outside of the usual youth oriented shows, so an indoor winter production was added. The Purpose of the Signal Mountain Playhouse is to produce plays and similar activities so youth and adults may participate as members of the cast or in supporting activities, to educate and train young people through association with adults who are also participating, and to provide quality entertainment to people of all ages.
